New highway from Bertam Valley to Kuala Lipis is not ready yet. But that takes you to somewhere in Pahang and you still need to drive some distance to Tasik Kenyir. The only way is still via Gua Musang and from there connect to other roads and highway in Terengganu. From a friend who did that he said it took him about 10 hours of driving from Cameron Highlands to Tasik Kenyir.

Here was the post about the trip from Cameron Highlands to Tasik Kenyir. There is information given by Idil on the route that he took in 2006. You can see if it can be applied for your journey too. Hopefully the roads didn't change that much over the years!

Oh, Alvin just recently came back from Cameron Highlands and he tried the new route from Bertam Valley to Bentong, Pahang. So looks like the road is open (but not officially open? coz I didn't see anything in the dailies) but this takes you to Pahang. You still need to hop over to Terengganu state from there. But nowadays there are many new highways in the east coast that would speed up your travel but I noticed in Malaysia there is lack of proper signage to point the way. Perhaps with the use of Gamin GPS might help, yes?

I am still old school...Still uses maps to navigate (actually planned way before the trip)..signboards may be there but at times obscured or missing (only left the supporting poles)..If use GPS, check that the maps are updated maps as new roads within 5years may not be in the maps yet..so it might "show" u are driving in a jungle...
